Billingsgate Lighthouse Cafe

This place always impresses me.

The food quality is very good...always.

The ambience leaves a little to be desired but thats okay.

Only problem is that you walk through the fish market and smell well...fish on your way to the restaurant.

Streak at Club 100

Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:26 by ashleyreddy

We went to club 100 last week, I had one of the steaks on the menu it was very good as well as the wine.

The service suck as per every other place in the downtown area.

The manager was nice enough to come and check up on us.

So check the place out and try the steak, if the waitresses give you any lip tell the manager!

Edmonton's high end restaurants becomming low end

Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:22 by ashleyreddy

A while back I remember the Harvest Room at the hotel mac was about as high end as you could get.

We went there last month and it sucked!

The service was awful and the wait-staff were not at all apologetic about it.

Don't waste your money there.

You can find a lot of medium end gems around with equally good food.

Foie Gras and Caviar

Thursday, 27 November 2008 02:52 by ashleyreddy

So I'll be going back to San Diego next week. I'll be visiting some of my favorite haunts:

Mr. A's probably the best restaurant in the world! (No Hyperbole)  They use to offer both Beluga and Ostera caviar but now they only have Ostera :(  regardless it should still be okay.

Next Stop, the SkyRoom at the Valencia hotel. (Looks like gods waiting room).  But the food is awesome.  They have Hudson Valley Foie Gras as well as Kobe Beef.

I might check out some new places while I'm down there.

The only decent restaurant in South Edmonton

Tuesday, 14 October 2008 03:45 by ashleyreddy

Saigon Cafe is the only decent restaurant in Edmonton.  The owner Tommy, takes a lot of pride in his cusine and maintains a very high level of quality control.  I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal there.

Quality control issues at the Cup Cake Shop in Edmonton

Wednesday, 1 October 2008 03:27 by ashleyreddy

We purchased some cupcakes from the cup cake shoppe in Edmonton for our daughters birthday.  My wife was eating one of the last few cupcakes and found a piece of plastic in one!  We called them to let them know and they didn't even bother to respond.  Fortunately my wife ate that cupcake and not one of the kids. :(  Pic below

Well it looks like the bakery folks apologized for their mistake...all is good continue enjoying the cupcakes.

First attempt at making my own naan

Tuesday, 23 September 2008 14:43 by ashleyreddy

After watching a video on youtube about making naan in an oven I attempted it.

It turned out okay.  The first batch was a little crispy but overall it tasted like naan.

The recipe is as follows:

2 cups AP flower

1 egg

1 packet quickrise yeast

3/4 cup water

pinch of salt

2 tsp sugar
